Ira Slovin graduated with honors from the Widener University School of Law in 1991 after previously earning a BS in accounting from Rider University. He is admitted to practice in New Jersey and Pennsylvania as well as before the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey.
Ira’s extensive legal experience includes a long and distinguished career in the Camden County Prosecutor’s office where his many roles included assignment as the Section Chief in several areas, including the Domestic Violence Unit, the Megan’s Law Unit, Shooting Response Team Unit and the High Tech Crimes Unit. He also spent six years in the Homicide Unit, including three years as Deputy Chief, and has extensive experience in the investigation, resolution and/or trial of many complex cases.
Ira also has practiced in the Federal system; he was assigned to the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of New Jersey as a cross-designated Special Assistant United States Attorney, between February 1999 to October 2001, and again from March 2012 to September 2014. During that time, he handled a number of complex federal court cases. Additionally, Ira is well versed in firearms possession/forfeiture and Second Amendment law in both the federal and state systems. His knowledge and experience in this area is of particular value to firearms owners.
In addition to his extensive legal practice experience, Ira has served as a member of the Camden County Bar Association’s Criminal Practice Committee and Committee on Professionalism. He is certified as a NJ State Police Instructor, has regularly provided law enforcement agencies with legal advice and has spoken on legal topics for the Rutgers University School of Law, Camden County College, Camden County Bar Foundation and Garden State Alliance of Paralegal Associations.
Ira has maintained a lifelong relationship with New Jersey and fondly remembers growing up in Willingboro. He and his family continue to live in and have deep roots in the South Jersey area.
