HELP! I’ve been seriously injured at work Now what?
Help!
I've been seriously injured at work. What should I do first? Seek medical attention right away and tell your supervisor as soon as possible. If your supervisor isn't there or won't help, your health comes first.
Go to the emergency room. Your employer is responsible for your authorized medical treatment under NJ workers compensation.
This means your employer's insurance picks the doctors and assigns a nurse case manager to oversee care. Keep a detailed log of symptoms, appointments, and anything important about your injury.
If you contract an occupational disease at work, NJ law also protects you under workers compensation. While recovering and unable to work, you're entitled to 70% of your salary under NJ law.
If your doctor clears you to work, but you still feel unwell, you should ask for your nurse case manager.
Feeling overwhelmed? Experienced law firms can help you navigate workers compensation and fight for your rights.
