Michael has a distinguished history of working in the law practice industry. In addition to his experience at several larger firms, he previously founded the Cifelli Law Firm, LLC and now is delighted to join the firm of Helmer, Conley & Kasselman, PA as Of Counsel. This new relationship will bring additional resources and talent to the clients of both firms.
Michael is skilled in providing high quality attentive legal services to public and private entities including, but not limited to, Contract Negotiations and Drafting, Business Development, Regulatory and Legal Compliance, and Dispute Resolution, Employment Contracts, Vendor Performance and Disputes, Risk Management and Assessment and Zoning Board applications and ABC related issues.
He has served as a Municipal Prosecutor for over 25 years, including in Hudson County. Michael has handled a range of Criminal Defense and Municipal Court defense matters in other counties where there is no conflict with his prosecutor role(s). His practice includes DWI defense as well as restraining order cases and trials where he has represented either the plaintiffs or the defendants in County Superior Family Courts.
Michael earned his J.D. from New York Law School and received his B.A. in English from Seton Hall University. He is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of New Jersey, the United States Supreme Court, the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.
On a personal level, Michael enjoys playing the piano, golfing and engaging in community service, including service as the Chairman of a Federal Housing Authority, volunteering at food distribution centers, fundraising for local communities and serving as the Chairman of Zoning Board of Adjustment for the Borough of Chatham.
