My humble beginnings growing up in the “Badlands” area of North Philadelphia, as well as my career path has exposed me to a myriad of situations and life experiences that most have never experienced. I’m referring to situations I experienced, as a teenager, which guided my future decisions. Being the oldest of (3) siblings and watching my mother struggle to provide all of us with $2 dollars daily so we could at least eat lunch in middle school, I would regularly make those same $2 dollars last the entire week to lessen the burden on my mother. During my junior and senior year of high school, I took to working a fulltime job to lessen the burden on my mother even more and at the same, fueling a desire to do well in school while avoiding those who cultivated negative influences and nurtured bad intentions. At a very early age, I learned the meaning of responsibility, good judgment, loyalty, perseverance, caring and self-sacrifice.
In 1985, I graduated 10 th in my high school class and earned membership in the Scholastic Honor Society. I immediately enlisted in the U.S. Military (Air Force) where I continued to grow and learned to be professional, respectful, self-sufficient, and disciplined. I earned several awards and recognitions, as well as the prestigious, “Airman-below-the-Zone” promotion which awards the rank of Senior Airman (6) months in advance. In December 1988, upon being honorably discharged, I continued military service, as a Reservist and a short time later, prepared for and entered the selection process to become a police officer with the Philadelphia Police Department.
On August 1 st, 1996, I commenced my employment with the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office (BCPO). My trajectory with the BCPO through my retirement on August 1st, 2024, had taken me through most of the office, I’ve had the opportunity to have worked numerous significant cases including homicides, fatal car crashes, bias crimes, officer-involved shootings and sexual assaults and in 1997 – won the 1 st ever Albert J. Mallen – Narcotics Officer of the Year Award for Burlington County. I’ve also worked in the Financial Crimes Unit, Insurance Fraud Unit and Family Unit.
I am delighted to bring my wide-ranging investigative experience to the HCK firm and to further strengthen the expertise available to our clients who will benefit from this.
My family is everything to me, (including my dog Toby). When away from the office, in addition to the time I spent with my family, I volunteer, including with Little League. One of the most meaningful awards I have ever received is the HTRBA Little League’s 2018 Volunteer of the Year Award .
