Professional Experience

Prior to earning her law degree, Ms. Day worked in field of broadcast journalism.  Working for the CBS affiliate in Boston and then for the news magazine “Dateline” at NBC in New York, Ms. Day developed strong research and writing skills.  

 

After transitioning to the field of law, Ms. Day interned at the The Federal Public Defender for the District of New Jersey in Newark during law school and then served as a law clerk to the Honorable Francis P. DeStefano, J.S.C.  in the criminal division of the Monmouth Vicinage.  Ms. Day went on to work as a law clerk in the appellate section of the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office where she managed a full case load of motions and argued municipal appeals.  After transitioning to private practice, Ms. Day was a solo practitioner prior to joining the Lucas Law Firm as Of Counsel.  Ms. Day focused her career in the criminal area.

 

Ms. Day took a hiatus from law to raise a family and joined Helmer, Conley & Kasselman in 2025 to continue her work in criminal defense arena..

In addition to spending time with her human family, Kelly enjoys the company of Oliver and Finn, her very handsome Labrador retrievers. She also  spends time at the beach, traveling and cooking. 

Education

  • Kelly Day graduated cum laude from Boston College in 1999 with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and Political Science.   She went on to earn her Juris Doctorate from Seton Hall University School of Law in 2005.
