Academics

Rick earned his undergraduate degree from Brandeis University in 1980. In 1983, he earned his Juris Doctorate from Rutgers University School of Law.

Rick is admitted to practice in both state and federal courts in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, and has practiced law since 1983.

Professional Experience

Clients choose Rick, who is in charge of the firm’s Family Law Department, to represent them when they want a strong and experienced advocate to protect their children, their assets, and their future.

As a seasoned and sophisticated trial lawyer, Rick has devoted his career to safeguarding his clients and their families. Rick brings his many years of practice in family law and a deep understanding of business law to help his clients deal with the turbulent waters of divorce and custody, protect their assets and receive what they deserve, and set them up for success.  While Rick is accomplished in the courtroom and has tried many cases, he also understands that a negotiated settlement is often the best way to resolve cases for the benefit of everyone concerned. He is regularly asked to represent clients regarding divorce, alimony, equitable distribution of property, child custody and parenting time, child support, relocation of children, and other family law issues.

Before joining the firm in 2015 as the Family Law Department Chair, in addition to practicing family law since 1983, Rick served as General Counsel for Camden County College for 25 years and as Counsel to the Camden County Surrogate, and had 32 years of experience in business planning, formation and transactions, contract law, and litigation for small to medium size businesses, as well as real estate and land use. This solid background enables Rick to be an effective negotiator as well as a tough litigator, providing Rick with the knowledge and skill to represent clients ranging from those with sophisticated and substantial assets and business interests to those of more modest means.

Representative cases range from protecting a business owner/entrepreneur in a divorce with a marital estate including a closely held business that total millions of dollars, to obtaining financial security for a wife seeking alimony and her share of a marital estate in excess of a few Million dollars, to gaining Court permission for a wife seeking to relocate with her daughter out of New Jersey, to achieving equal custody and parenting time of children for a father, to securing spouse’s economic rights in divorces with modest resources. He has also served other lawyers as a highly experienced consultant in New Jersey law regarding pre-marital agreements, and as the leader of the firm’s Family Law Department Rick regularly provides advice and counsel to our other family law attorneys.
