Let our Attorneys Fight your NJ Escape Charge
We have three lawyers Certified by the Supreme Court of New Jersey as Criminal Trial Attorneys. Call us for our extraordinary level of experience and recognized legal skill.
The law defines escape as follows:
- Leaving a police station, police car, or jail without permission while under arrest;
- Not returning to jail, prison, or a halfway house when required;
- Leaving jail or prison without permission; or
- Failing to report to parole or to Intensive Parole Supervision.
An escape conviction could result in up to five years in prison (ten years if the individual has multiple criminal convictions) and/or incarceration in a maximum security prison. Such prisons include Trenton or Rahway State Prison. These are the worst prisons to serve time in since they contain the most dangerous criminals in the state. Those convicted of escape are not usually paroled or permitted to enter halfway houses or other programs in the prison.
A strong defense is required for this type of charge. The New Jersey attorneys at Helmer, Conley & Kasselman, P.A. have successfully represented many persons charged with escape, and we will fight to uphold our clients’ rights.
