Julie R. Freeman-Burick
Academics: Ms. Freeman-Burick earned her undergraduate degree from the State University of New York- College at Fredonia, summa cum laude, in 1996 and earned her Juris Doctor from Rutgers University School of Law- Camden in 1999.
Professional Experience: Upon earning her law degree, Ms. Freeman-Burick served as a Judicial Law Clerk to the Honorable John Tomasello, J.S.C., Gloucester County, Family Part, from 1999 to 2000 and joined the firm Gerstein Grayson, LLP as an associate in the Family Law Department in September 2000. Ms. Freeman-Burick then joined South Jersey Legal Services, Inc. where she worked in the Cumberland, Salem and Gloucester county offices between 2002 and 2011 and served the legal needs of persons of low income, providing legal representation in family law and related matters ranging from simple to complex, from motion practice to trial litigation in divorce, non-dissolution, custody, domestic violence, parenting time, child support, removal, grandparental visitation and related matters, as well as housing and benefits law. Ms. Freeman-Burick is highly skilled in the areas of family law and benefits and housing law, having honed her skills by way of a high-paced practice of court appearances involving motion and trial matters.
She currently serves on the Matrimonial Early Settlement Panel of the Gloucester County Family Court, where she has served since 2006, and previously served on the Matrimonial Early Settlement Panel of the Cumberland County Family Court between 2003 and 2006. She also sat on the Cumberland and Salem County Domestic Violence Working Groups from 2002 to 2006 and has authored numerous legal column articles for both the Cumberland County Reminder and the Spanish Nuestra Comunidad weekly newspapers.
Ms. Freeman-Burick is certified in Mediation and Conciliation Skills by the Administrative Office of the Courts and is trained to mediate family matters including economic issues, child custody, support, parenting time and relocation issues. She is available to mediate matters between spouses who are seeking to avoid expensive ongoing litigation costs.
Admitted to Practice: Ms. Freeman-Burick is admitted to the New Jersey and Pennsylvania Bars and the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey. She has practiced law since 2000.
