ESCAPE
We have two attorneys who are each certified by the Supreme Court of NJ as a criminal trial attorney. Call us for our extraordinary level of experience and recognized expertise!
The law defines escape as follows:
- Leaving a police station, police car, or jail without permission while under arrest
- Not returning to jail, prison, or a halfway house when required
- Leaving jail or prison without permission
- Failing to report to parole or to Intensive Parole Supervision
An escape conviction could result in up to five years in prison (ten years if the individual has multiple criminal convictions) and/or incarceration in a maximum security prison, such as Trenton or Rahway State Prison. These are the worst prisons to serve time in since they contain the most dangerous criminals in the state. Those convicted of escape are not usually paroled or permitted to enter halfway houses or other programs in the prison.
A strong defense is required for this type of charge. The attorneys at Helmer, Paul, Conley & Kasselman, P.A. have successfully represented many persons charged with escape, and we will fight to uphold our client's rights.
